Renee Rudder
Director of Design Studio
“Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness.”
– Frank Gehry
After touring the Gilded Age mansions of the Vanderbilt’s and Berwind’s in Newport Rhode Island, nine-year-old Renee knew her future was in design and architecture. Sketching Victorian style homes, writing short stories, planning entire towns, and composing music on the piano, Renee’s childhood and teenage years were full of all things creative. That artistic affinity led her to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Georgia.
Renee began her professional career with one of Atlanta’s top engineering and architectural firms; she is thankful to have had the opportunity early in her career to work alongside engineers to understand the integration of each discipline into a building. She made the move to hospitality in January of 2008 joining Design Continuum, Inc. Renee quickly progressed her career with more responsibility on each new assignment due to her keen space planning abilities that focus both on the overall functionality and the most subtle detail.
Her hospitality experiences range from new development to renovation to adaptive reuse of National Historic Register properties. Renee’s strength is remaining cognizant of a hotel’s operational demands while creating and conceptualizing the full guest experience.
As Design Director, Renee leads many of ID Studio’s custom design projects and currently is working on two Hotel Indigo’s, a new-build Crowne Plaza, a new-build custom Holiday Inn, and two new-build custom Springhill Suites. In addition to leading projects, Renee works with the leadership team to establish office and drawing standards, maintain quality documentation, and cultivate an office environment full of learning, growing and sometimes a little fun.
When not designing hotels, Renee spends time with her son, goldendoodle, chocolate labradoodle, and husband who is, unfortunately, a Tennessee Vols alumni. Go Dawgs!
